Striper fishing has been exceptional the past several weeks with 20-25lb. fish common during daylight hours and much bigger fish for those that like to fish at night! The occasional big bass will fall during the day as we had a few over 30lbs. during the 4th of July weekend. Big blues have vacated the area for now after their annual spawning ritual.

This trophy striped bass caught in LI Sound below was released quickly and measured 54" with a girth of 33" which according to the IGFA formula puts this fish at over 70lbs., and what makes this fish extra special is that it was caught in local CT waters in less than 10 feet of water!
With over 35 years experience Captain Chris Elser specializes in connecting anglers with big striped bass whether you prefer casting large herring and bunker flies, drifting live eels or live liningl adult menhaden! This is an addictive pursuit and our success rate on stripers over 30lbs. is second to none in the Western Long Island Sound with fish up to 58 lbs. locally in the past several seasons.
The 62.5 lb. striped bass above was weighed in at the Block Island Boat Basin and caught by Heather Elser in less than 20 feet of water. Should have made it official as it could have been a women's world record!
Trout Fishing can be experienced at it's finest with world class trout fishing right here in CT! Give us a shout if you want to enjoy some winter trout fishing on the Farmington River and some other lesser known streams closer to home!
