August 2017

It's August but the waters are cooling...go figure! Bluefish have arrived in the western sound for their fall chow down so it's time to break out the wire leaders. Striper fishing remains slow locally but that will pick up in a few weeks with this weather pattern. If you are bent on catching striped bass you should fish at night period! With the abundance of bunker in our area bass are primarily hammering the bunker schools and feeding at night because bunker have very poor night vision, easy targets for sluggish bass. You can get into good sized blues at first light and then again late in the evening.

Right now we have several great fishing opportunities available, Check out the latest fishing report!

This one above was released quickly and measured 54" with a girth of 33" which according to the IGFA formula puts this fish at over 70lbs., and what makes this fish extra special is that it was caught in local CT waters in less than 10 feet of water!
